Retiree. Scholar. Mentor. Friend.

Teaching Opportunities

Colorado State University faculty members have always prided themselves on their teaching, and the University has always stressed good teaching and personalized education. The Society of Society of Senior Scholars joins Continuing Education and the CSU Honors Program to offer opportunities for retired faculty members to remain involved with the CSU and Fort Collins educational communities.

Academic Courses

Dr. Robert Keller, Director of the CSU Honors Program, is seeking excellent faculty with energy, expertise, and enthusiasm to teach Honors seminars in Fall 2006 and/or Spring 2007 semesters. The seminar topic can be chosen by the professor, but the seminar must address core curriculum requirements and meet the Honors Program’s criteria.

Present seminars can be reviewed on the Honors Program website. Seminars are offered at the 192, 193, 392, and 492 levels. All are 3 credits. (The 192 is technically 4 credits, but the fourth hour is independent of the regular seminar).

Picture of campus This opportunity arises as part of the University’s strategic plan. The Honors Program is expanding from 850 to 1250 students and plans on increasing the number of tenured faculty who are excellent instructors to teach Honors seminars. The compensation offered to teach a three credit course is $7200.

Members of the Society of Senior Scholars who want to explore this Honors Program opportunity should contact Dr. Keller at robert.keller@colostate.edu as soon as possible to receive more information.

Noncredit Courses

The Division of Continuing Education is offering the opportunity for passionate and energetic emeritus faculty to teach noncredit courses to the Fort Collins and surrounding communities of Colorado utilizing face-to-face or online delivery. Choose a topic of your expertise to educate and enlighten the community at large. All courses must be reviewed and approved by the Society of Senior Scholars Steering Committee. This experience will be exciting and challenging as you interact with people of diverse cultures and ages.
