Program Requirements
This degree completion program is designed for students who have completed at least 60 semester hours of transferable college credit at the community college level with a GPA of 2.0 or better and individuals who have completed an A.A. or A.S. degree at a Colorado community college. Prior transcripts are evaluated to determine academic status in relation to satisfying degree program requirements, including both general education courses equivalent to Colorado State core curriculum and all prerequisites for upper division, junior- and senior-level work.
A total of 42 upper-division credits (300 - 400 level) are required to complete the program, with a minimum of 30 upper-division credits earned at Colorado State University. The number of courses you will need to complete your degree will depend primarily on how many earlier credits transfer. Since online degree completion is tailored to meet your schedule, your learning style and your intensity of study, the program's duration will vary among students.
Students are encouraged to complete any outstanding general education courses and lower division prerequisites as they pursue formal admission to Colorado State University.
After receiving my AA degree from Colorado Mountain College, I faced the dilemma of which college to attend for my BA. I did not look forward to driving to classes several times each week and moving was not an option. When I learned about CSU's online Social Sciences degree program, I was thrilled. I can access class information and complete assignments at my convenience and still travel, ski, and watch the elk migrate past my home. While the online degree program may not be compatible with students who need socialization and personal interaction with instructors, it has been perfect for me.
