OSHR 1630 - Native Plant Identification : Increasing Your Understanding of the Beauty of Colorado (Workshop)

Noncredit

Delivery/Location: Off-Campus

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

Are you a Colorado native? Are you a Colorado transplant? - It matters not! We all appreciate living in our beautiful state. What makes it special? Join us for this workshop-based, introductory class on identification of plants native to our area.

This field trip-based workshop will focus on Colorado’s life zones and those plants which are found in our nearby surroundings. Our first two sessions, held at the Gardens on Spring Creek, will set the foundation by focusing on major plant families and their characteristics. Slide presentations will set the context.

The final four sessions will each be held at different locations so that we can see for ourselves what these plants look like at various sites in and around Fort Collins.

Note: Details about the four field trips/workshops will be provided at the first class session. Participants should plan on either providing their own transportation or carpooling. Some walking will be involved at each site.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
