This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.
This course provides a tour of word processor, desktop publishing features of a word processor, and an introduction to a true desktop publishing application (IDENTIFY).
Key elements of the course will include:
- choosing the right application;
- how to use the application features (step by step procedures, using an interactive demonstration method), and
- when to use them (work flow).
We will explore what a true DTP application offers, compared to a word processor.
Other topics include: methods of illustrating and enhancing documents; converting a document to PDF; using fonts and graphics, and many others (as requested by participants).
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
Instructors
Mike Morris, M.Ed., has taught various software packages in a number of local settings. He is a member of the Society for Technical Communication and an Editor-in-Chief of a monthly newsletter for a computer users’ group. Earlier in his career, Mr. Morris was general manager of a local business - The Printing Station.
