Noncredit

Delivery/Location: Fort Collins

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University.

Session 1: Building Relationships through E-Mail

Participants will learn basic skills for communicating and connecting with young people (grandchildren, children, nieces, nephews.) using e-mail. Developmentally appropriate suggestions and resources for interacting with adolescents will be provided.

Note: If you do not have an e-mail account, you are still welcome to attend. A handout will explain how to set up an account (This information will not be covered during the class time.)

Session 2: Adolescents' Use of the Internet for Grief Support

After setting a context as to why adolescents are likely to use the internet, participants will be shown websites that are frequently visited by grieving adolescents. Presenters will facilitate a discussion about various safety issues for those who seek information and support through the internet and will then offer suggestions for positively integrating the World Wide Web when working with grieving teens.
