Did you know that there is both color for the eye and color for the ears? "Ear color" (the kind that music makes) swings, soars, and sweeps one into the heartland. This course will focus on tracing the roots of one of the only "truly American "musical styles-jazz.
We will take a journey from the spirituals and work songs of the African slaves through the musical melting pot of New Orleans and the blues of the Mississippi Delta region. We will explore the changing face of jazz through the decades-highlighting Dixieland, Swing, Bebop, Cool, Free and Fusion. The course will be a multi-media experience with opportunities for class participation. Be ready for foot stomping, praising, singing the blues, and more....
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
