Description

Topics in Models of Parallel Computing, Interconnection networks, Basic Computing and Communication Primitives, Performance Modeling, Searching and Optimization: Dynamic Programming, Branch and Bound, Dense Matrix Algorithms, Sorting, and Graph Algorithms.

Software & Hardware Requirements: Students must have adequate computing resources able to create, compile, and run Java programs. Any up to date personal computer or workstation should be adequate for Java development. The Java Development Environment is available free over the Web. Students can use a personal computer and modem, or a computer or terminal connected to a local area network that is connected to the Internet. The course programs can be developed and executed on the CS department's lab computers, but the student must have a means of accessing these computers, via telnet or similar program over the Internet.
