CIS 150 - Business Computing Concepts and Applications

3 Credits / Summer 2008

Delivery/Location: Online

CIS 150 is a computer-based learning course covering the essential computing skills needed in the global knowledge economy: Basic Computer Concepts, Windows Vista, Internet, and the new Office 2007 suite. The course uses a "self-paced with milestones" approach where students use the computer-based learning on their own PCs while meeting specific assignment deadlines. This is an ideal learning environment for adult or other students who want to update their computer skills in a low-stress environment.

The course includes creation of a short business plan that uses all of the skills learned during the semester. Course materials include Pearson/Prentice Hall Publisher's computer-based learning software called MyITLab, a custom textbook, and a flash drive.

Students use RamCT for communication with the instructor and MyITLab for learning content. The course exams must be proctored; students in northern Colorado may arrange proctoring with the instructor in CSU's dedicated computer lab located in Allison Hall on campus.
