BUS 150 - Business Computing Concepts and Applications

3 Credits / Fall 2008

Delivery/Location: Online

This course is designed to optimize core computer skills for academic and business applications. Advancing beyond simple competency, the curriculum familiarizes students with some of the most powerful and popular computer tools used daily at universities and corporations around the world.

These specifically include the latest edition of Microsoft Office, including Word 2007, Excel 2007, Access 2007, and PowerPoint 2007. Students also learn to maximize the Vista operating system, as well as to effectively use an array of Internet resources for effective communication and research. The course combines traditional classroom lectures with hands-on skill development exercises.

The course includes creation of a short business plan that uses all of the skills learned during the semester. Course materials include Pearson/Prentice Hall Publisher's computer-based learning software called MyITLab, a custom textbook, and a flash drive.

Students utilize MyITLab for learning content and communications with the instructor. Course exams must be proctored; students in northern Colorado may arrange proctoring with the instructor in CSU's dedicated computer lab, located in Allison Hall on campus.
