BSLL 1006 - Financing Your Small Business

Noncredit

Delivery/Location: Online

This course is one of three courses designed to help you learn what's involved in starting a small business, how to plan and finance that business, and basics of setting up a website and eCommerce functions for that business.

You have decided to start your own business. Or perhaps you already have a business, but have determined to make some changes that are going to require access to money. Either way, financing your dreams is key to making them become reality. And while the whole idea of securing funds may seem daunting, it is really a matter of going through the steps of articulating your business strategy, determining your needs, and choosing the kind of financing that is right for you.

This course will help you explore the strategies needed to finance your new small business. It will help focus your ideas to write a comprehensive business plan, identify the appropriate forms you will need to begin the financing process, and adopt an overall strategy to target your optimal financing sources. It is a condensed course for prospective entrepreneurs, designed to show you the tools you need that can be applied to your particular situation. Additional online resources are provided to help you explore and learn beyond the scope of these lessons.

This course was specifically designed to be a self-study course, completed at your pace and your convenience. YOU are the final evaluator of your success; no assignments need to be turned in, and there is no formal evaluation. The goal is simply to help you systematically work through the steps of developing a small business.

Although most students finish the course quickly, students are given access to the course for six months after registration to use the course materials as a reference.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
