Associate Provost
The Associate Provost for the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) is responsible for online, distance, and state-wide educational initiatives and provides overall leadership for strategic and program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and fiscal accountability. This position has the responsibility for leading DCE, a self-funded enterprise unit of the University, including the operations of the main campus office and professional education centers in Denver, Loveland, and Brighton. The Associate Provost will also collaborate with CSU-Global Campus in providing continuing education to the people of Colorado and beyond.
Purpose of Position
The University is seeking an individual who will bring experience, vision, and energy to the position. This individual will be a strong entrepreneurial and collaborative leader who will embrace change and initiate creative solutions to meet the needs of students, private industries, all levels of government, and community organizations. The successful candidate should have a proven record of accomplishment in working with business and industry, building community and corporate collaboratives, creating economic development opportunities, managing budgets and providing leadership for the organization.
The Associate Provost reports to the Vice Provost of Outreach and Strategic Partnerships (VPOSP). This position will supervise a staff of approximately 35 individuals in multiple office locations with eight direct reports. This is an administrative professional position with the possibility of a faculty assignment. This position will be based in Fort Collins, CO.
Responsibilities and Relationships
The successful candidate will:
- Foster strategic partnerships to drive the creation of new courses and programs (both credit and noncredit) and new services;
- Demonstrate a passion for building and implementing a vision that integrates state-of-the-art online education and learning communities that will have a highly visible and significant impact on higher education in Colorado and selected markets;
- Provide operational oversight and hold responsibility for the successful development, delivery, marketing, and financial accountability for all Continuing Education programs and operations;
- Operate in an entrepreneurial manner, building DCE and CSU outreach capacity, reaching out to new markets, and developing programmatic options with colleges and departments through a financially sustainable approach;
- Cultivate interdisciplinary public/private partnerships to meet the educational demands of companies and individuals by offering market-driven courses and programs;
- Align strategic objectives between DCE and the units in the Office of the Vice Provost for Outreach and Strategic Partnerships, The Institute for Learning & Teaching, other CSU entities and CSU-Global Campus.
- Demonstrate personal and professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, and allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes; and
- Represent the university nationally and internationally through educational partnerships and constituency organizations.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of accomplishment in the management and implementation of education programs, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work closely with a variety of stakeholders and academic programs.Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited university;
- Minimum of seven years of administrative experience in education program development, management, and leadership;
- Minimum of three years developing and managing continuing education operations for online/distance programs or extended studies programs;
- Evidence of familiarity with emerging issues and pedagogy of online learning;
- Proven organizational, financial and management skills including marketing, planning, budgeting, and facilities management; and
- Demonstrated success in building high-performance teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- A doctoral degree with strong academic credentials or a master's degree in educational leadership or related field;
- Senior-level management experience in an area related to continuing education or extended studies programs.
Salary
Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
